Quick store pics – Spring 2010

Took a few quick snaps of the store windows and inside display. Come by and say hi!

I LIVE for Novelty prints!

dogwalkdressmain

Iwas doing one of my regular searches of eBay for vintage novelty prints — and I came across this AMAZING dress that makes me want to CRY because it’s just a wee bit too small for me! WAH!

Seriously? Have you ever SEEN anything this cute??? A very sophisticated black dress with yellow piping & detailing — with a fantastic print of DOG WALKERS??? I’d have a pretty hefty bid on this if it was in my size.

Maybe it’s in YOUR size? If you’re as much of a sucker for Novelty prints as I am, go check out the listing. And even better? It’s from Vintage Fashion Guild member and a long-time vintage friend, Northstar Vintage - so you know you’ll be getting EXACTLY what’s advertised!

*sigh*

Anyone know how much it costs to have ribs removed? I suppose I could afford it with all the money I’d save NOT eating. It’s times like this when I REALLY miss my 20-year old body!!

SUPER DUPER RARE 40’s Skier shirt added to eBay!

I actually listed something on eBay!

I’ve had TWO people tell me that this shirt is book listed – but I don’t know which book!! Argh! If anyone knows, please fill me in!

What I DO know is that this type of sports themed shirt is very rare – and with that cool Christmas colorway? Too cool! Add to that the size — LARGE!! Woot!

If this is your kind of thing, go check it out!

Just in time for Holiday parties!

Our Etsy Store!

I really need to get in the hang of this blog thing.

For instance – why it didn’t even occur to me to show our new Etsy store is simply beyond me. Dumb!

Business so far as been surprisingly good! We have a lot of designer vintage items that our regular clientele generally aren’t interested – plus, this is generally the pricier and/or more delicate items that really couldn’t handle the day to day shopping experience in the store. (NOTE TO OUR SHOPPERS – please please please stop moving things down the racks by the garment’s sleeves! They’re not meant for YANKING. Please move items by their hangers. Thanks!)

Anyway — here’s the link to our Etsy store -

Next, hopefully, I’ll start featuring the new individual items and maybe even talking about the designers! woot!

Before it’s gone…

I’ve had this sweet little Lilli Ann suit in my collection for some time. It’s one of those items that I just didn’t want to let go – but I finally did.

Last week I had one of our lovely new models put it on and… perfection. It was the first time I’d actually SEEN it on a human body and it was truly magical. From the nipped in waist and flounced peplum, to the fitted wiggle skirt. And the actual fabric was sheer genius as well. A wonderful heavy ribbed black wool with fluffy white and red nubs that are scattered throughout but concentrated in strategic areas, like on the flounced peplum. Really a wonderful effect!

Anyway — I listed it on Etsy and had a fair offer by the next morning – even before I’d finished adding all the information! It’s bought & paid for and on it’s way to the UK where I hope it gets to have a more exciting life than living in my packed storage room on a hanger.

Bon Voyage to my favorite Lilli Ann!

Blog Crush!

During my many internet searches I come across so many wonderful & funny vintage lovers. Although I have a deep passion for vintage of all sorts, I also love modern technology – without it I wouldn’t have access to all these other fantastic vintage lovers!

Anyway –my current blogger crush is on It’ll Take the Snap Out of Your Garters! (A Vulgar Display of my Love for Days Gone By!)

Another of my blogger crush’s is on Sweet Sassafrass

And ohhhh there’s so much more goodness out there!  But that’s a good start :)

I’m off to find some more crush-worthy vintage bloggers :)

We survived!

1930s Maroon knit suit

1930's Maroon Knit suit now in the closet of the lovely Lily Collins. Hi Lily! Send us a pic if you can! :)

Last week we exhibited at the Vintage Fashion Expo. I swear we had the WORST booth in the joint – we’re told it’s consistently the LAST booth to sell for every show – yet we managed to make a go of it.

So much so that we have already secured the same space for February’s show. Yay!

I didn’t see very many stars – though we did sell this cute 30’s knit suit to Lily Collins (daughter of Phil Collins). I didn’t know that’s who it was at the time – I tend to be pretty oblivious with stuff like that – but everyone else seemed to know who she was.

Obviously, it looked MUCH cuter on her than it does on my little half-mannequin. Lily is very tiny – and had the perfect shape for this darling little outfit. She was also sporting red hair (for a role, I think she said), but it actually worked well with the maroon.

In addition, hubby spotted Lisa Bonet and Marisa Tomei. I didn’t see anyone else myself :(

Hubby, kiddo & myself. Day one of the Vintage Fashion Expo, Oct 09

Fantastic vintage blogger The Glamorous Housewife did a nice write up about her day at the Expo and took a fun picture of myself with the hubby & kiddo.

Hope she doesn’t mind that I snagged the photo! But while you’re at it, you should go check out her very Glamorous blog -  Tales of a Retro-Modern Housewife – Scroll down to Oct 19th, 2009 to read of her experiences at the Expo.

I’m still working on keeping up with all these online things – we’ve got Twitter (follow us! ElsewhereVintag! We might even TWEET something now and then!)

We’re now selling on Etsy – shop name ElsewhereVintage. Oh — and we have a Facebook Fan page.

WHEW! Just writing it out exhausts me! All that PLUS the actual brick & mortar store AND a family? I need a nap.
